Pilgrim Paths Week, March 22nd – 29th, 2016

National Pilgrim Paths Week –  Easter Saturday, March 22nd – 29th, 2016

Pilgrim Paths Week 2016Ireland’s third annual National Pilgrim Paths Event will take place over a week for the first time ever. The celebrations will take place over the Easter holiday period from Tuesday March 22nd to Tuesday March 29th 2016. There will be a nationwide series of walks, lectures and community activities planned along and around all of this country’s major medieval, penitential walkways.

As  with the highly successful day long events in 2014 and 2015, National Pilgrim Paths Week 2016 will provide a warm welcome for participants of all religious backgrounds and equally those without religious affiliations. A unifying week emphasising Ireland’s common Christian heritage it will be designed to facilitate a deeper understanding of the country’s historic past. Every effort will be made to facilitate participation in a series of unique events aimed at rediscovering Ireland’s rich medieval and spiritual inheritance. Many of the pilgrim walks will be single day events; some will be over 2 days and others will run for up to 5 days. All will be targeted at returning a degree of deeper reflection on, and appreciation of the Irish outdoors, to the Easter period.
